A la Mode                                  by Jana Reid

Many of you contacted us regarding Alix Beans' article a few weeks back, expressing interest on the alternate scales she made mention of. I thought it might be useful to offer you more info on the subject.

I found this online, at Guitarzone.com but you don't have to be a guitarist to grasp the concepts, you can use these alternate scales with any instrument including your voice! I suggest you go and read the lessons outlined at the link (where we found this) listed below. It's a beginner's guide to scales and tonal modes. Don't be scared with the number of scales out there as this is an excellent lay out in easy format for instant comprehension.

If you need to explore new melody structures it often helps to noodle with some alternate scales for inspiration. Cut and paste this information and attach it into your writing books. Have fun.
